Are Your School Crisis Plans at Home, Too?

Posted by on February 5, 2010

It is Friday. As a school administrator or crisis team member, you’re happy if you made it through the week without a crisis.

But while you’re home over the weekend, if a school emergency occurs, do you have a copy of your school crisis plan accessible at home so you know what to do?

What would you do if something happened at the school over the weekend when you were not there?

Are procedures in place to facilitate off-site emergency communication notifications to all school staff, including support personnel, during non-school hours?

School crisis situations are not limited to regular school hours.  School staff must be prepared for emergencies which may occur during after-hours and weekend times.

Is your school administration and crisis team prepared for responding to emergencies at non-traditional times?
